Collection: Chip Goldsmith
Chip Goldsmith was raised on Isle of Hope in Georgia, where he still currently resides. Many of his works portray the life and culture of the islands, where the water is a huge part of life.
Goldsmith is an ear surgeon and self-taught artist; he sold sketches to sororities and fraternities as a way to make money in college. Since 1998, he has been painting on a more regular basis after being asked to donate a painting to an auction.
His favorites are oil paintings, though most of his works are watercolors. Many of his paintings are landscapes featuring residents engaged in local activities: swimming, fishing, boating, crabbing, etc. Some are inspired by real people or events, and some are the product of imagination.
