Richard Ball Jr. grew up in Rhode Island and developed an early love for sailing and antique cars. In high school his interest in photography began with a polaroid instant camera; he then started developing his own B&W film from a match needle Ricoh.
As the digital age emerged, Richard rejected the format, sticking with his 35mm workflow. Eventually, he transferred to digital Nikon equipment and continues to shoot in color as well as black and white, which will always be his personal favorite.
